Make AI Work for You from the Standpoint of Your Craft

Start with something you already know how to do. Learn where AI can help, how to give it clear direction, and how to judge what comes back.

Four live online sessions: October 26; November 2, 9, and 16, 2026.
Mondays, 7:00–8:30 p.m. Central. $125 covers the complete series.

The learning path

Build the habit.
Then put it to work.

You don’t have to become a programmer. You need a task that matters to you, a way to explain it, and the confidence to question the answer.

  1. 01

    Start with the foundations

Understand what AI can and can’t do. Practice the four-step method on a familiar task.

  2. 02

    Make everyday life easier

Draft a message, plan an event, or get an explanation. Learn to notice the warning signs of a scam.

  3. 03

Apply it to work & business

Turn notes into next steps, draft customer messages, and check the facts before anything goes public.

  4. 04

    Stay safe. Build your toolkit.

Protect private information, verify claims, and keep the prompts and habits that fit your craft.

Guided practice, workbooks, and take-home guides support the series.

Illustrative written lesson · Not a class recording

A useful draft is not
the same as a true one.

Try the method with a fictional garden club. The notes, prompts, and sample AI responses below are illustrative—not participant work or a transcript.

  1. Describe

Give the task, the source material, and the boundaries.

    Example prompt

“Turn these garden club notes into a short action plan. Use only the notes. Mark missing details ‘to confirm.’ Don’t invent names or dates.”

  2. Create

Ask for a first draft. Clear instructions help, but they don’t guarantee a correct answer.

Illustrative AI draft · Contains an error

“Seed swap: Saturday at 10 a.m. Recruit setup volunteers. Assign a setup lead.”

  3. Review

Compare the draft with the notes. Where did “Saturday at 10 a.m.” come from? It wasn’t supplied. The volunteer tasks are reasonable next steps, but no one has agreed to take them on.

  4. Refine

Tell AI exactly what needs to change, then check the revised version yourself.

    Correction prompt

“Remove the invented date and time. Label proposed tasks as proposed. Leave the owner and deadline as ‘to confirm.’”

    Illustrative revised plan

    Date and time: to confirm.
    Proposed task: recruit setup volunteers.
Proposed task: choose a setup lead.
    Owners and deadlines: to confirm.

Try it with a non-sensitive task of your own: what is the one detail you would need to verify before using the answer?

Beyond the individual learner

Bring the learning
to your organization.

The course is the starting point. If your group needs a shared introduction—or your business needs help with a specific workflow—we can talk about the right approach.

Organization training

A shared language for practical AI.

For teams, churches, nonprofits, and community groups. Ask about the four-session series or the condensed 40-minute meeting edition: an introduction, a demonstration, and guided practice.

AI consulting

Start with the work.
Not the tool.

Bring a recurring task, a messy handoff, or a process your team struggles to maintain. We’ll discuss where AI might help, what should stay human, and what a useful next step would look like.
